From May 21st to June 4th you can walk, see and learn about the beautiful island of Anglesey. Visit quaint coastal and rural villages with their tales of shipwrecks and ghosts, and explore the island’s industrial and natural heritage with well-informed and professional guides. See a variety of wildlife, wetlands and flora at local nature reserves, and join ‘Bug Hunts’ with Wild Elements, look for Red Squirrels with Red Squirrels Wales and learn about moths, bats, otters and water voles with our conservation experts.

For the those who like a challenge, take part in one of the many cycling events, including 100k and 50k Audax rides, the Parys Mountain Bike Challenge, or join us for a bit of ‘vertical walking’ on Holyhead Mountain with Monactive.

Should this be too challenging, why not wander the coast looking for fossils and discovering the unique geology of the island and its coastline. Learn about ancestry, the stars and our solar system and how LEGO is being used to teach people of all ages to understand technology and how robots function. Add to this the opportunity to write creatively at Beaumaris Gaol and Courthouse with Will Stewert, and you have a very uniquely packaged two weeks of walks and events.

All Walks and activities wherever possible are accessible to all, and we also have an exciting programme for schools. No other festival in Wales can offer more choice or opportunity to celebrate the natural environment.

All our walks are guided by experienced, informative guides who will ensure your enjoyment of the festival. Several walks are on the coastal footpath and feature stunning scenery, flora and fauna, varied geological rock formations and a large variety of nesting bird colonies - ideal for birdwatchers.

We at Menter Môn, as the organisers, are continuing our close working relationship with Natural Resources Wales (Education Team), the Isle of Anglesey County Council Coastal Footpath Team, the Countryside Officers of the Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along with the Ramblers Association (Ynys Môn Group), Menai Bridge Industrial Heritage Trust, North Wales Wildlife Trust, The National Trust, all our other community volunteers and GeoMôn.

GeoMôn is now a member of a prestigious European Network of which there are 50 members in Europe, and is also a Global Geopark (UNESCO). GeoMôn is grateful to the walking festival for combining their activities as part of the European Geopark week.

Isle of Anglesey Walking and Outdoor Festival 2016 is Organised by Menter Môn and funded by Natural Resources Wales (Education Team, Outdoor Learning Wales) and Anglesey County Council Coast Path Team.

Walks will start promptly at the indicated start times. Walkers must report to the walk leader no later than 15 minutes before the start time.
